Symposium Details

When and where is the 2016 symposium?

ESCCAP VBD 2016 will be held on 19–20 October at the 2016 Southern European Veterinarian Conference in Granada, Spain.

How many delegates will be attending the symposium?

Approximately 100 delegates and sponsors will attend the symposium.  The meeting will attract delegates from around the world including parasitologists, health care professionals and veterinarians.

Who will be speaking at the symposium?

The scientific committee will be chaired by Professor Guadalupe Miró Corrales from the Facultad de Veterinaria, Madrid and there will be presentations from invited guest speakers including:

  • Barbara Kohn (Veterinary Faculty of Berlin, Germany)
  • Reinhard K. Straubinger (University of Munich, Germany)
  • Gad Baneth (Hebrew University, Israel)
  • Guadalupe Miró (University Complutense of Madrid, Spain)
  • Laura Kramer (University of Parma, Italy)
  • Patrick Bourdeau (Veterinary Faculty of Nantes, France)
  • Maria Grazia Pennisi (University of Messina, Italy)
  • Michael Lappin (Colorado State University, USA)

Abstract Submission

If I submit an abstract do I have to attend the meeting?

It is expected that at least one author of the abstract attends the meeting to present the work and answer questions.   

I have submitted an abstract, when will I know if it has been accepted?

The deadline for abstract submission is 30 June 2016.  Abstracts will be reviewed by the scientific committee will notifications be sent to the abstract submitters.  Applicants will be notified by 31 July 2016.

How can I make changes to an abstract I have already submitted?

How can I register for the 2016 symposium?

When should I register?

Please register as soon as possible once you know that your attendance is definite.  This will mean that you have a guaranteed place.  On occasions, symposiums do become fully booked and regrettably we do have to turn people away.  However, if your attendance is not definite i.e. you do not yet have your funding or entry visa finalised, please do not register until these issues are resolved.

When do I need to pay my symposium fee?

Your symposium fee must be paid as part of the registration process.

If I am selected to present an abstract at the symposium, do I need to register for the symposium and pay the symposium fee?

Apart from guest speakers and ESCCAP directors and members, anyone who will be attending the symposium needs to register.  We regret that we are unable to cover expenses for poster presenters.

Can I get a refund for my symposium fee if I don't attend the symposium?

What do I do if I want to change my registration?

Accommodation

Do I need to book my own hotel room?

All symposium registrants are responsible for their own accommodation arrangements unless you are an ESCCAP member or invited guest speaker and have therefore been notified otherwise.

I am presenting a paper or poster therefore am I entitled to overnight accommodation?

No.  Only invited speakers will be offered accommodation.  Delegates selected to present a poster must organise their own accommodation.

 

Travel

Do I need to organise my own travel arrangements?

All symposium registrants are responsible for their own travel arrangements.

 

Language

Which language will be spoken at the symposium? 

The working language of the ESCCAP VBD symposium is English.

Can I present my paper in another language?

No.  The working language of the symposium is English.  All presentations and discussions will be in English.

Will interpretation services be provided? 

No interpretation services will be provided.

 

Visas

What should I do to obtain a visa? 

Contact your relevant embassy or consulate to find out what exactly you need in order to apply for a visa.

Will ESCCAP help me obtain a visa?

ESCCAP will not schedule appointments, make telephone calls or interfere in the visa process in any way.  However, they will write a letter to confirm registration at the event where applicable.
